Do you have a special place to hold your memories?

I have a box where I keep special things like birth tags from hospital where my children were born. I kept some printed photos with written messages behind them to share stories with my children. I also have a family heirloom, a christening robe sewn by my mum for my children. A family treasure!

I keep and record photos and videos of their early years because I know they won’t remember much of their early years and I want them to be able to see how precious they were as they brought meaning into our lives.

Most of my photos and videos are taken randomly. I am without makeup, sometimes in my pjs and many times I take fun photos. The only time I hired a professional photographer was at my wedding and when the school my children attended had a school photo shoot.

Why do I like natural photos?

I want my children to see me as is and ordinary so they learn to slowly accept themselves as is. These are treasured memories I hold precious and are keepsake treasures.  Photos and videos are then organised into various occasions so that I can create Photo Books and Photo Slideshows stories for my children.

Treasured Souvenirs that Remind Us of Precious Memories

Do you spend much of your time working? I do.

What precious memories brings your attention back home?

Lets face it, we often take our work mindset home unintentionally. How do you unwind after a hard days at work?

For me to unwind, I place certain treasured souvenirs in my home to reconnect me to a memory I created. So when I feel sad or disappointed, I look at those memories to remind to be grateful for all I have.

  • My last trip of Singapore, I bought a tealight candle holder to remind me of my birth home and all my memories of growth;
  • On my honeymoon, in Springbrook, we bought a pumpkin tealight candle holder;
  • My mum knitted a scarf to give my family as a present to keep warm and I have a special tartan scarf from Scotland from a close family friend to remind me of my trip to Scotland, many years ago;
  • My photo books and photo slideshows tell stories of our family, both good and painful memories so we can see our growth transition.

Memories holds a special place in our hearts because we created them to strengthen our love and relationships in this present moment.

Without them, we would be lost with no recollection of our journey in life. It holds an emotional connection to give us a sense of belonging to our family and even community. It helps us find our place in the world.

What do you keep in your treasure chest of memories? Please share with me below or on my facebook page. Thank you for taking time to share your memories with me.
